Summer isn’t the only time you can really enjoy the beautiful outdoor space you’ve created. Fall is the perfect time to cozy up on your patio, spend quality time with friends and family or just enjoy the crisp air the season brings. If you feel as though your patio isn’t exactly fall ready, here’s some ideas for how to make it feel more like fall.
Warm it up
Fire pits are a fantastic way to warm up your outdoor space, and they add some fun to the space for roasting marshmallows and making s’mores. What’s great about adding a fire pit to your patio space is that it doesn’t have to look like the traditional, hole in the ground at our campsites that we tend to imagine. There’s so many options for this décor item: from the traditional fire pit to fire tables that are modern and stylish. You can make your space match your style by choosing from a variety of options, and there are even some custom, built-in options available should you want to make that investment.
Food
Maybe not ones you can eat, but gourds and squash are the foods most associated with the fall season and they make beautiful décor for porches and patios. You can pick your own at local markets, so you’ll have to look around to see what is available in your area and find a time to go pick your own. By picking a variety of sizes of a few options: pumpkins, gourds, squash, and combining them with some hay or corn stalks you can create some great centerpieces or focal points for your outdoor space.
Change up the Colour Palette
Items like throw pillows and blankets are probably the easiest to change up with the seasons. To make your space feel more like fall, reach for rich varieties of oranges, reds, and yellows. To compliment these colors, choose others like olive green or rust to create a beautiful fall palette. With patio furniture, selecting neutral finishes and cushions means you have a better opportunity to change up the décor items with the seasons.
Change the Plants
If you have a garden in your outdoor space, and can easily change out the plants this is a great way to make it feel more like fall to match the changing of the trees. If you don’t feel like you can change out all of the plants in your space, picking potted plants with fall colors will make a noticeable difference for you to enjoy.
Candles
What says fall more than candles? Find some candles you can place on your outdoor tables with fall scents to enhance the ambiance of the space. These candles will make the environment that much cozier and will give off extra light so you can enjoy the patio when the sun starts to go down. Large, three wick candles will fit into the area perfectly for that warm and inviting environment.
