Episode 2 – The Soft Revolution
In the middle ages of outdoor furniture evolution, people were looking to nature for solutions. The hard and cold stone of their previous furniture was not agreeable to their behinds. But where to find something soft and nice, yet durable?
It came to pass that people were herding sheep and soon there was a visionary amongst them who pictured outdoor furniture made from sheep wool. The sheep were always outside, so the material had to be durable and perfectly apt for the purpose, he preached. People were ecstatic, envisioning what joy the new patio furniture materials would bring and celebrated long hours when finally the first products were available.
But soon they had to realize, the new technology came at a price: When left outside in the rain, the furniture would get soggy like a sponge. People were confused as this phenomenon had not been observed with the sheep.
The tough consequence was frequent wet clothing, since the furniture would stay wet for days or even weeks and drying was very difficult. They had to realize, evolution had taken them from cold, sore bottoms to wet bottoms. Consternation settled in.
