Episode 3 – Steel Rules the World
With the invention of steel, dark clouds came over the earthlings. Steel meant weapons, war and decades of destruction. But steel also brought positive and enjoyable things to the people, like clothes hangers, steel kebob skewers, hand cuffs, barb wire . . . and the newest generation of patio furniture.
While the outdoor dining chair (above) was praised for its stable mesh construction, it lacked in comfort when dining excessively over periods of more than 2 days straight. People ended up with a square pattern on their bottoms and backs. Which was generally not desirable those days.
The outdoor lounge chair was surprisingly comfortable as the mesh had a bit of give, when lying on it. Also it was easy to move, due to the convenient wheels.
Later models had stoppers, so people would not wake up from their nap, miles away from where they fell asleep. We have to note, it had become a bit of a sport to take napping people for an unwanted ride on these loungers.
Interesting patio furniture. More on the avant garde side 🙂 Worth a try for the daring.
