So you’ve put the snow shovel away, scrubbed up the barbecue, and just learned how to mix the perfect Mojito.
It’s time for summer to remind us why our patios are the real reason we put our heads down and just let Winter roll over us.
Maybe this year it’s time to spruce up the ol’ environs a little, and what could be more appropriate than some new patio furniture? I know what you’re thinking; ‘But what type of patio furniture should we get?’
I’ll thank you to keep your Italics to yourself, but you’re correct in your dilemma, though there are a few things to keep in mind when selecting patio furniture in a city that has frigid temperatures a good part of the year that should help make your decision easier.
It’s always a good idea to remember the climate in Toronto; if you plan to have your patio furniture occupy its place year round, it’s critical to consider how your choice will fare exposed to the considerable weather variance this city experiences.
First, take stock of the dimensions of your patio and plan for the number of chairs, tables, recliners etc. that you’d like, and remember that even a large space can seem crowded if there isn’t enough room to move comfortably around without bumping into something or someone.
Know what it is that you want to use the space for; relaxing, partying, barbecuing, as a family centric gathering place. This will help you to find the proper décor to match your patio’s needs.
Next, think about the materials. Molded plastic is by far the most economical option, with a huge variety of styles, colors and forms (rigid, flexible, lightweight, solid, folding etc), they can be a surprisingly cool addition to any patio area at an affordable price. Especially, if you opt for modern patio furniture in a dark all-weather wicker design (as shown below).
Natural wood is by far the most popular of all patio furniture materials, as it’s not only incredibly durable and amazingly versatile, but can also be shaped and crafted into some of the most beautiful and chic patio furniture to be had.
Real wood can be a little pricey however, as anything hand made tends to be when it requires long, arduous hours to produce.
Which brings us to the modern materials, metal and stone.
Metal patio furniture is among the most elegant and sophisticated designs currently available, but they do come with a stiff price tag, though the ultra modern forms are real showstoppers.
Stone patio furniture is not nearly as popular as the other materials for obvious reasons; it’s not nearly as practical. They tend to be somewhat heavy and blocky, but they can be just as sophisticated and funky as any other type of patio furniture, though be prepared because they certainly won’t come cheap.
Whatever it is you have in mind for your patio this summer, some new patio furnishings can help set the mood right through to Labor Day.
BTW; I didn’t even mention inflatable furniture for obvious reasons.
So DON’T ask.
we love our patio, we had our grandaughter’s grad party on the patio, and have all our get togethers on the patio, it is the place to relax, take in the sun, and enjoy our evenings, afternoon snoozes in our lay out lawn chairs are enjoyed as well,
Bring the inside to the outdoors lifestyle is great. Here in Canada, we don’t get much of summer, so the more time I am outdoors the better, and having your lovely furniture only adds toe enjoyment of it. Sipping my coffee and having breakfast on my patio and watch nature; can’t get any better than that.
Would love to furnish my sun room with this nicely styled furniture
Love to sit out on our deck with our family and friends, playing guitar and singing songs!
