Rabbits dug up out newly planted veggie garden!
At my parents house when we were 18, my friend have a girl a copy of Lord Of The Rings after he’d heard she liked it, and she was so taken aback and happy that she fell straight on her butt! 15 years later and they are married and have a little baby boy – I told the story at their wedding!
We just built a picnic table from a kit and the result – was not good. May have to take it apart and start gain. Sigh?
Sitting on my deck under the tree when I felt something fall on me. Thought it was rain until…. I felt an ant crawling down my neck. Fastest I moved in a while!
We set up a bird feeder outside. We have beautiful gold finches outside eating at it. We dream about sitting on a patio and watch them.
Sitting on our patio furniture and all of a sudden, the material of the seat ripped, and made our chair not availble to sit in. Caught myself as I was going through, but what a startle.
Sitting on the deck having pastrami sandwiches on a really windy day. So windy my top piece of bread kept blowing off my sandwich. My friend kept telling me to put the mustard on my sandwich to keep it from blowing away. I thought she was nuts! After the second time my bread blew off she told me again, “Put the mustard on your sandwich”. So I pick up the mustard container and put it on top of my sandwich, from where it promptly fell off, and my three friends burst out laughing. Of course what she meant was to put the mustard on the sandwich itself so it would stick together…duhhh! Yeah, we laughed like fools…still do.

The last time I was on a patio was for my birthday. When my little cousin saw the number candles on my birthday and yelled “Wow! You’re an old lady now!”
it was a party with bunch of people and i felt kind of weird among people i didn’t know.
Last time I was on a patio was with my wife in a place called Hemmingways downtown TO. I ended up having just one too many and managed to spill a strawberry margarita all over my wife. I was in the dog house after that for a while
When my daughter was just over a year old she raided the garden on a daily basis. There were no cherry tomatoes to bring inside because she would eat them directly off the plant!
A few years back, while sitting on our home patio… the wind started to really pick up. A big gust came by and blew our umbrella throughout our yard and eventually over the fence into the neighbours yard and got stuck in their tree. We just sat there amazed and couldn’t help but laugh at what had just happened. Fortunately, there was no damage, other than the embarrassment of asking the neighbour to help get the umbrella out. We have since learned to better anchor our umbrellas
A funny but not really funny story was that my dog pooped on my furniture and on a hot summer day I went to sit and got poop all over me!

My Mom was over the other day and we decided to sit outside. I forgot to check which chair my mom was going to sit in as I knew one of the chairs was compromised. Well, she sat in the wrong chair and ended up breaking it and sitting on the ground.
I have the stereotypical patio furniture story, sadly.
Meeting the in-laws for the first time, and trying my hardest to make a good impression. comment about their lovely patio furniture, and mom talks at length about it and how much she loves it – insinuating it’s expensive cost.
Immediately following this, I plop myself down on the patio chair with vigor, where it immediately explodes into a million pieces.
I don’t personally have a yard right now but… here’s a funny story about when I was hanging out with a friend of mine in her yard. She has a little shed that she and her sisters would jump off of into the swimming pool. I decided that I was gutsy enough to try this… but when I got up there, realized I wasn’t. Trouble was, the roof was extremely hot on my feet AND there was a bee chasing me around (I’m terrified of bees). Needless to say, it was a pretty hellish situation at that point… like a cat on a hot tin roof, only with the added element of bees.
The funniest memories I have on the patio are all when furniture has given out, anyone falling through a chair always makes for a good laugh.
While I do have a small patio, I only own I chair, so I can only entertain myself so far.
Great just to sit, relax, and play dominoes with my husband outside on the deck.

Dont have a Patio here set up yet but my hubby and I went to Boston Pizza and sat on the patio just because it was GORGEOUS out!
Falling backwards off my chair was the highlight of the night,when I moved the cair too far back off the patio.
Last summer I was on my deck grieving the loss of my cat of 19 yrs when a hummingbird came and landed on the railing. I know in the strangeness of the universe that it was a sign my kitty was ok, and she was and always will be with me, as are all our loved ones.
When we celebrated my grandson Grayson’s 1st birthday on our deck, my daughter Lisa made cake pops as well as a pirate cake, and Grayson used two pops as drum sticks – his Dad is a drummer but we had no idea he would think to use them like sticks! Such a great moment!
Funniest thing that happened was last week when I was sitting on my older patio chair and it completely collapsed under me! Next thing I knew I was laying on the ground and everyone around me was laughing!
The last bbq I went to was at my brother’s (the expert chef) was on Canada Day where he served up burnt chicken (“It’s not so bad” he said). The mosquitoes feasted on us that day!!

There is always a fox that climbs up the stairs and onto our patio everyday, and is always peeking in at us through our sliding doors whenever we are not outside. It does not matter what season it is, he is there in the snow, rain or sunshine … I often think that he was reincarnated as my brother! lol
We have a wonderful rooftop patio that gets daily use. We can spend hours watching life pass by a few floors below while relaxing the day away in the sunshine.

My little sister found a small family of bunnies in our backyard. She was amazed by how cute they were, but she terrified the tiniest one and it froze on the spot for half an hour.
I wanted to get new patio furniture but my wife was reluctant. One day she sat down on a patio chair and it collapsed and she ended up sprawled on the deck. We had new furniture the following day!

Could use a new patio set
It starts with a dog. It always starts with a dog. My silver Labrador Sterling. We were all outside, guests milling about and everyone wanted to see the ‘Silver’ Lab. A new breed of colour, so I brought him outside, speaking highly of his regal appearance, good behavior and what I assumed was Doggie good sense. Once outside, mid deck, he elected to relieve himself. Right where everyone would stand, walk or pass through. Nice. With that he returned to the house and my stories of the great new breed of lab stopped… For a little while anyway.

My then to be husband had build this outdoor table and benches but had left it out for quite a long time and it had quite a few cracks and was in rough shape so when I sat on the bench my skin quickly got caught in the cracked wood, but he was quite a gentleman and went to get a blanket so that this wouldn’t not happen again, yes, I proceeded to marry him later….
Its been so cold and buggy this summer I don’t even have any funny stories about being on my deck 🙁

My daughter decided to play cards on the patio table. Just as she was getting settled in a gust of wind blew the whole deck away and many of them went down between the floor boards never to be found again.
Last time on our deck my wife said I do not like the way the deck looks. 3 weeks later the deck has been sanded down and restained plus we put up a gazebo on the deck. Now my wife likes the way it looks and I can relax.
Many happy memories are from parties on the deck of my former house-mom’s birthday-nephews 16th birthday and many wedding showers and any excuse to celebrate summer

Recently I had just taken pride in my vegetable garden…I bragged to soon. Our beautiful romaine lettuce disappeared overnight and we knew it wasn’t the local rabbits…fast forward the next evening and the culprits we sited…four deer were nosing around the yard…we laughed because we simply love watching nature in the backyard year round…all that’s missing is an outdoor dining set…
We were enjoying a family moment between the wedding and the reception of my daughter. My sister and I were taking up the bench on the end of the patio table and we were all so happy to be together. Suddenly I felt the earth move and the bench bent and folded up. No one was hurt but we all had a laugh and we all look at that bench with trepidation and fear.
I’d love to win this patio set. I’d get outside more for Vitamin D!
The funniest (and maybe most embarrassing story) that happened on our backyard patio is when our old plastic chairs finally started to give out; in one evening, two of us ended up breaking chairs and falling on top of a pile of rubble LOL
We have a huge spider that takes out wasps. and keeps out other unwanted guests like arachnaphobes

We have a covered deck. so when entertaining we don’t get rained on, when it rains. Yesterday while having a BBQ it began to thunder/lightening & hail. So we were okay, or so we thought. We got soaked. The BBQ was moved to the garage and we had a garage party instead or a deck party. The deck would have been better since the garage is stocked full. :/

I was sitting in my rocking chair on the patio when I felt something run up my leg…it was the friendly chipmunk that comes every day. He surprised me and I automatically reacted by jumping up and shaking my leg…he held on for dear life! lol

It’s a sunny day, friends on the sundeck sipping cool drinks, great conversation flowing! We’re celebrating my birthday! I’m at the helm of my barbecue set, grilling a delicious meal! Deciding to take a break , I sat down on my older patio chair. Imagine my surprise as I was flattened right to the sundeck floor, sprawling on my butt! I was embarrassed as were my guests, who rushed over to help me up! To make light of the situation, joking that I had a lot of padding , & laughed at my folly! My friends followed suit & the moment passed. We continued to have a great fun barbecue nonetheless! I vowed I would not only lose weight but also get a new patio set! I still have not due to lack of funds & now gingerly sit on the other remaining chairs, hoping for no more ‘plunging surprises’!

Well the truth is I have entered every contest there is online to win a patio set for our balcony. All we have currently are plastic lawn chairs. I would definitely love to win something to spruce up our balcony. My husband is 6’8 and 425lbs so he cannot sit on just anything. It has to be sturdy enough to support him. So currently we have the plastic chair, my beach umbrella that is pink, yellow and orange. So new patio furniture would allow my husband to sit outside with me and our lab mix Shiloa. <3

My husband and I are newly weds (were married July 20, 2013). When our out-of-town guests for the wedding came to visit our house for the first time, we had to have them all sit on the wooden deck floor because we don’t have a patio set yet! So embarrassing. We would love to have them come visit next year, and maybe we will even have a brand new patio set by then! 😉

A dragon fly patrol zoomed over our patio, there must have been 9 of them, weaving back and forth on their mission, beautiful!
My Patio story is we have a hot tub and very good friends of our came to visit and after summer and it was dark we all got into the tub and enjoy the heat and the conversation.
We were sitting watching the nieces and nephews jumping on the trampoline and one of them jumped right out and onto the porch and landed upright in a chair! It was amazing and I don’t think they could do it again if they tried!
I once bought a bentwood chair for my parents deck. It sat outdoors all year for many years. We had guests over once and it was a first meeting with them so we wanted to give her the honour of sitting on the “lovely chair” she admired. She sat down and promptly went right through it…landing on her rear with legs up in the air. We were pretty humiliated and embarrassed. We need new furniture!!

When I was a kid I used to sit on my patio and surround myself with bread in the hopes that squirrels and birds would come sit on me or land on me and eat the bread. I used to do this for hours and hours all summer long but it never worked! 🙁
Canada Day we were have a get together and enjoying our new Tikki lanterns until one fell over and nearly set the whole lawn on fire.
I was invited to a barbeque and after using the bathroom inside, I walked back towards the patio. Not realizing the screen door was still closed, I slammed right into it and sent it flying right off the track. If you will, picture a 5’4 female essentially body-checking a door– and having it reciprocate by knocking me right over. Two other guests were nearby and caught the entire thing. They helped me up and and told me his toddler son did that often and screens were hard to see. I was mortified the entire night!
I decided by myself that I was going to barbecue 2 chickens. I had them on the Rotisserie and was thinking how delicious they would be. All of a sudden the BBQ collapsed. It was not like some of the ones they build today. My daughter was home and I said trying to hold onto it, get George our neighbour down the street to help me. He came and fixed it and we enjoyed that chicken. But I thought never again would I be tempted to do chickens on that particular Barbeque.
There’s nothing like winter in Canada, going to sleep watching big snowflakes falling outside (and not worrying about the accumulation on the patio table glass), only to wake up to find a shattered table on the snow-covered deck. Snow is heavy!
Our patio set was old and recently started to rust a bit at the joints. When my father-in-law came over last (he’s a big dude) He ended up finishing the set off. It is now set for the dump and we are in need of a new set. Please hook us up!!!

We were staying at a friends place and we were lucky to have our own little patio. My friend said “whatever you do make sure that you lock the patio door because there are critters around!” – well clearly we didn’t because at 3am we were woken up by smashing glass. Terrified we woke up out of our slumber to realize we had a raccoon in the room. I don’t know who was more scared – I am guessing us for sure!
The patio at our cottage was always the gathering place for family. We especially loved feeding the chipmunks who came to visit, much to the amusement of our dogs, who love to chase them! 🙂
Most of our time visiting is spent on the patio at the cottage. My siblings and I share a cottage and the patio visits are the highlight. Announcements of good news and sad news usually is shared on the patio. Smiles and tears. This is where our family bonds.
hanging out on the patio and june bugs were out .. one flew under my top and I was running around the yard like a nutcase .. the neighbors found it quite entertaining (I did not)… we still laugh about it.

I planted some summer flowers in planters on our balcony this year, it looks like they won’t be flowering until september. Its my first year in this apt. and I guess the sun likes to come in the evening. So I will just enjoy the blossoms when they appear in september. <3
Sitting out on my patio one night, early evening, I heard some noise, didn’t give it much thought, looked up and saw a bear staring at me. Yikes! I screamed he ran.
I had an amazing summer supper, and watched the sun go donw!
My favourite outdoor story is from the day I found a cat and her three little babies on a chair on my patio. She was terrified of people but eventually came around. They all live inside with me now 🙂

I love sitting out on the deck, eating ice-cream cones + watching people go by in their boats – some waterskiing / some tubing – all great to watch. But my favorite is watching the mommy ducks + loones with their babies every spring.. so cute!!

Just moved into a new place, and have been looking for just the right outside patio furniture, but has been to pricey, would be amazing to win this contest to spruce up my newly built back patio. Nothing better then sitting outside enjoying the beautiful outdoors on comfortable furniture.
My son in law loves to work work work … he has a hard time sitting still except when it is just about time to go to bed. Anyway he was making me a picnic table and it was his first time making one, he had just looked at other picnic tables and went from there, and when it was done (or so he thought it was) He ask my daughter to sit on it and tell him if it felt alright. My daughter sat down and right away fell on her back as it was not set properly, a person had to sit on either side or it would fall back light it did with my daughter. I guess he needed some braching that needed to be done. He had a great time building it and I loved that he was even fixing me a picnic table. It was suppose to be a surprise for me but I came home to early. I love the picnic table ……..
The wind blew away my furniture
My most memorable patio experience was a few years ago. We went over to the in-laws for a Mother’s Day bbq. Everyone was on the deck with their drinks in hand, chatting, laughing and having a great time enjoying the beautiful spring day. All of a sudden, events took a decided turn for the worse as the unmistakeable smell of skunk suddenly wafted through the air. Then people began to scream and laugh as the skunks under the deck decided they didn’t like all the noise and resolved to make the human interlopers evacuate the premises. In a flash we abandoned the deck to the skunks (women and children first!!) and retired to the gazebo, located a safe distance away. It’s been ages since I’ve laughed that hard!!

The last time I was on the patio that was a funny experience was when it was raining outside and the wind was really strong. I had my air conditioner cover on the patio and it blew off the patio. I chased it down the street it was really hard to catch it. I got so soaked from the rain but I did get the cover. Needless to say I do not keep the cover on the patio anymore. I would really love to win the patio set dont have one and would love a set
I didn’t have a stand for my patio umbrella, and one evening when I came home I found a strong wind had blown it over my neighbour’s 6′ fence, and it landed upside down in his yard. Slightly embarrassing to say the least!!

I planted a patio garden in memory of my late mother, Betty.
When I look off my patio I sometimes see a heart. There are small “dips” in the pavement in the parking lot off my patio. After it rains, the “dips” fill up with water…the shape…a HEART. I believe it is my mum reminding me she is still with me.
we left our old patio chairs and cushions outside last winter, the squirrels took most of the stuffing out of one to make their nest!
We were having trouble with rabbits getting in my garden. I finally put up a fence to keep them out. Shortly after I stepped out the door and headed to the garden to do some weeding, I stopped short when I saw a deer in the middle of my ruined garden. Oh well, at least it wasn’t a rabbit!

Our family had a barbeque outside this month and we talked, ate, and told some stories about our past and we saw a lot of animals, such as rabbits, squirrels, and many different types of birds just inside of our backyard… it was a very peaceful time.
I sat down on my patio chair and leant back and proceeded to fall off the back of the deck…..Thinking I was alone, I jumped up only to see a group of people walking past my back yard laughing, then they began to clap….Awesome
One of my visitors left a cigarette in the ashtray and it landed on my patio. My patio went on fire. Good thing my nabor saw it and reacted cause the patio is attached to the house.
Last year my barbecue caught fire and torched the back of my house, deck and patio while we were inside sipping tea and biscuits. If it wasn’t for my british heritage, this very well may not have happened! hahaha
We had problems with our basement leaking so we now have a moat around part of our patio while the work is being done. Very medieval.
I would really love the patio set! There is a family of bunnies living under our neighbour’s deck and we enjoy sitting out to watch them.

looking at the wall, i wasn’t sure what the black spot was. walking closer, i could see it was a bug…but wait, closer still…it was 2 flies mating…hmmm, i didn’t know that’s how it was done in the insect world. i even snapped a photo of them ;/
Last time I was on the patio, one of the neighbourhood cats saw me there and walked over for a chat. It would meow and I would meow back. This went on for the longest time. Patios are for socializing, even with animals. Another funny story is that while sitting in the patio I heard a wood pecker pecking. When I went to investigate what he was pecking I found that it was my neighbours wood railing off their stairway.
My most memorable moments were rocking my son to sleep
My 2 year old grandson picked 1/2 the cherry tomatoes from my patio pots before they were ripe. I told him next time he had to wait until they turned red. He waited and waited and finally the day came to pick some red ones. He bounded out to the patio only to discover the deer got to it before he did. Now he’s back to picking the green ones.
We don’t have too much action happening on our patio set. It’s only a four seater and my husband and I have 5 children so we usually eat in 2 groups.
At a family gathering, my ooh-so-cool Grandson was set up on the only hammock with his drink, food and ipod(of course) but when he tried to adjust his position, OVER went boy, beer, food and IPOD!!
