Toronto and outdoor furniture – a love story made in heaven….
Why is it that we love spending time outside so much? Simply because we are Canadians and that’s who we are, outdoor people?
Or is it because our winters really suck and we can’t wait to put on some flip-flops and sit on our patio with a cool beer as soon as the snow has melted up on Blue Mountain?
I am not trying to give an answer here. All I know is, we love our summer and we love to spend it in our garden or on our deck, preferably on some decent patio furniture.
The first photo shows us a covered patio in a Toronto garden with a white wicker dining table and armchair, as well as 2 wood and steel folding chairs in European bistro style. Brendan O’Brien Landscapes combines the elegant rattan look with the rough wooden dining chairs. White wicker has come a long way in North America. It has a pure appearance and like in a good painting, the colour just brings a lot of motion into the whole picture. It complements almost anything including the green of the lawn and shrubbery, natural stone, and even flowers.
On a completely different page is this natural look rattan seating set by Hauser. We are looking at a very playful design. The artfully woven plastic rattan combined with blue throw pillows, each with a unique pattern, creates a calming and welcoming environment. The chair draws our immediate attention, a backrest that extends over the head and wraps around to the side as to give more support to the person sitting in it. But it is more than that, the niche like chair provides for a soothing experience, all the disturbances behind you are cut off and you are left to enjoy. Two tables make it easy to add more decoration, enhancing the effect of diversity and playfulness.
Another great landscaping job shows us a pergola over a flagstone sitting area, complete with full outdoor kitchen and BBQ. The garden furniture from Andrew Richard Design is very modern. The silver grey cushions offset nicely against the dark brown resin wicker. The orange pillows provide the necessary accent. The set is modular, making it easy to be moved around and assemble in different configurations. Modular sectionals have become hugely popular in Canada. They offer ample seating. Having family and friends over is so much easier. Don’t worry, the cushion covers are removable and can be machine washed. They are also liquid repellant, so spills can be easily wiped off.
Toronto online retailer Velago Patio Furniture also offers some interesting choices for garden furniture. This conversation set is perfect for the smaller sitting area as it fits virtually any space. The compact modern design makes this a very popular set with Torontonians. Simple clean lines are features that can transform a patio, turning your garden into an impressive display of style. These look fine! I especially like the 3rd one, the grey furniture next to the BBQ although I’m more fond of urban stuff like this: http://www.archiexpo.com/prod/dedon/contemporary-garden-benches-resin-wicker-4765-855942.html
I like patio furniture thankful to me.
