I go out on my patio with my computer, it is so nice out there on a summer’s day under the trees, you can see the kids playing and the neighbours walking their dogs, it is so peaceful.
I enjoy drinking my Stella and watching my gardens grow
Enjoy drinking wine from my local winery
I go to my patio to work on my papers for my Masters classes on my computer while my 15 month old son runs at large in the yard.
My most memorable patio experience was a wedding we attended at a golf course. It was a beautiful evening and at one point the MC invited all the guests onto the patio where there would be a final father/daughter dance. As the music was playing suddenly there appeared the most beautiful fireworks display I’ve ever seen coming up out of the valley. It was so moving and beautiful and I felt like I was in a movie!
I always enjoy the time my family spends together every year on our patio for our summer BBQ.
My husband and I just purchased our first home and we have a lovely terrace … but because we’ve never had a terrace (or any patio space), we don’t have any furniture.
We look forward to being able to create new memories on our terrace. BBQ first … then some lovely furniture.

My patio is for me time. Sure having friends and family over and sitting out back sipping some wine and catching up on good times are awesome, but everyone needs me time. I can sit on my patio and listen to the waterfall from the pond. Its time for me to unwind!
My favorite patio is in Shediac looking out at the water, it is so peaceful and rejuvenating. I just have a Fifth Wheel trailer on a seasonal lot but wouldn’t give up my lot. Our winters are so long in the Maritimes and many places have mosquitoes in the warm weather – that’s what I like about Shediac the salt water seems to keep the bugs away. I would love to win some new patio furniture to use in Shediac.
I felt I was in heaven. The warmth of the sun was amazing. Looking at the surrounding I for the first time admired the beauty God had created. From now one as soon as the summer start I’m in my yard enjoying every day and keep myself happy and fit.
I was on a Patio in Montreal,Quebec sipping a cocktail when all of a sudden
my chair moved about 5 inches and I went flying into the pool. I swam out like a fish while my university friends had a good belly laught, well so did I once I got out. This moment makes a memorable event that I will remember, and my friends too. LOL
One funny thing happened to my husband when we were having a get together with our friends on the patio was when a Canada goose dropped a “surprise” on my husband’s arm when he was barbecuing. All of a sudden, he felt something wet and dripping and thought that someone was squirting a water gun at him, but he looked up and he saw a gaggle of geese flying above. We all had a great laugh, except him.
My birthday is in the summer so we have the most awesome pool parties! It always fun to decide who is the one who gets thrown in!
We love to sit outdoors in the morning on our patio and enjoy our coffee and listen to the birds
my most memorable patio moment is sitting out behind my house as a kid in a small town and watching the fireflys dance around my backyard. I never could catch one though.
i would love to sit on my patio but get eaten aliveby mosquito
my BEST patio experience actually happened earlier today!….and i’m still beaming at the thought of spending a perfect day together with my dear family that hasn’t been together with each other in far too long!
woow ..this is beautiful.Looks so cozy…I feel relaxed already♥
I hadn’t seen my sisters for a couple of years and they surprised me one summer .Family are best to party with when you haven’t seen them in awhile! Their extra special when their visits are long inbetween
This patio furniture would look absoutely awesome on my front patio. Beautiful and looks very durable. Just put yourself in with a good book and a great glass of vino and you are set.
My most memorable patio experience was actually in Italy – dining out at a restaurant patio and enjoying my family, the food and the atmosphere. We let the waiter order for us and it was our first true taste of Italy!
I love hanging out on my patio with family and friends. My grandchildren love to have their meals there.
My most memorable experience was my surpirse 50th birthday party. My kids organized it, very well I might add. I had no clue. There were about 50 people there, from various times of my life; such as past work colleagues, present work colleagues, school friends, best friends, family – the list goes on.
One of my closest friends took me out to dinner, telling me that my husband would probably meet us there. Well, he obviously didn’t make it. As we turned down my street, I was shocked to see so much activity at my house. I thought something horrible had happened; my heart was in my throat. But as I approached and saw all those people, I realized I was fooled big time.
But what a wonderful surprise. I was in a daze for the first few minutes as I was seeing people from my past that I hadn’t seen in ages, from work, etc. It was awesome and amazing. And that is no small feat as I am not usually surprised.
Pick me, pick me. Your next winner!!! Show me the money! It has beautiful scenery. It would be a dream come true and means a lot more to me than anyone else to win the prize. Starving artist here desperately needs the prize. A life changing experience. Top of my bucket list
Now if my deck looked as nice as the furniture!
The best time on a deck we ever had was 5 years ago. We had a bunch of people from Toronto come to our house in the country and we stayed up all night to watch meteors streak across the sky. We were all bundled up in blankets on the deck chairs. It was extra special because one of our friends had cancer and died the following year. Whenever we see a meteorite we think of him and that amazing night.
I remember a night when the rain was pouring down but it was really warm. We stayed out under our umbrella having a laugh with the music blaring. Then the lightning started and we were lucky it didn’t hit the umbrella pole.
The best part of the day is when I get home and relax on the patio
I would love a new comfy patio set because I have plastic chairs that i use and this one day i went out to relax and watch the kidlets play when the chair snapped and my drink went flying and i went plop right on my butt, the kids couldnt stop laughing haha, i love sitting out on the deck watching my children play its a everyday thing. (:
I live in Northern Ontario and the winters can be pretty brutal. My family & I spend a lot of time indoors during the late fall and winter. When spring and summer finally come along, you can always find us out on the patio.
For me in particular, I spend every waking moment outside on my patio enjoying the beautiful weather and my gorgeous flower and vegetable gardens. There is something special during that time of year…a renewal and the ability to watch to trees and flowers bloom again. Frankly, I only go back inside when it’s time for bed.
After suffering complications from a previous cancer treatment and then a workplace injury, I have learned to live every day to the fullest & my favourite place in which to do so is of course my patio!
I love to sit outside during the summer on my patio with my dogs and just enjoy the peace and quite and nature. It is very soothing.
My most memorable patio experience occurred September 2007 during a major wind storm. That evening my husband went to a hockey game leaving me home with two year old and a 6 month old. As I passed through my kitchen I noticed the gazebo on my backyard patio being whipped by the wind. Each time I looked out my patio doors a little more of the gazebo had been shreaded or was missing. Being only five feet tall and having to take care of the children I wasn’t able to do much. By the end of the night the gazebo was a goner! Foolishly we bought another gazebo and put it up. After two years of replacing the metal rods and repairing the canopy, that one finally succumbed to the wind. Last weekend we built a wooden pergola. If the wind ruins the pergola I give up and will spend the summer sitting on the front steps!
I enjoy sitting on the patio and watching the birds.
I love having my morning coffee and breakfast the patio. It’s memorable moment everyday.
Long evenings with a bottle of wine and salsa music
had my first kiss on a patio!
My husband and I were able to snag a free Foosball table and put it on our covered patio. We didn’t think we would use it much, but now summers consist of Foosball tournys with friends, family & neighbors!!
Patio time is perfectly summer supreme
Love sitting on my patio with my honey enjoying our me time, absolutely relaxing!
I always spent my summers out on my patio, relaxing, reading, or having a drink! I’ve been in an apartment building now for two summers, but I just bought my first home and I can’t wait to have a patio to sit out on again!
We grew up with a huge patio in our backyard, some of my best memories are there. When I turned 14 we had to get rid of our pool and our patio went with it, because my father was ill.
I go outside on my patio to study for my last exams, it’s much nicer than to be stuck inside. I also enjoy BBQ with family and friends!
I was on my backyard patio about half an hour ago, knockin’ back a Fuller’s Organic Honey Dew beer, and playing some soft toss with my border collie Sofie. We have a Mulberry Tree that grows right next to the deck, and I noticed some of the berries were getting very thick and juicy. I plucked a bunch off, and gave them to my panting dog. It was a solid Tuesday evening in the suburbs.
I love drink my morning coffee outside on my patio.
I am learning to juggle and BBQ on the patio!
love going to the patio just to sit down, have a cup of coffee and relax after a hard day at work
Mom and dad live in a suburban neighbourhood. On their patio deck they have a round table with an umbrella. One winter morning they awoke to find a fox comfortably nestled in the snow that had settled atop the table. It actually got up and walked round and round the table. They gave me a photograph of it. For me it’s a reminder of the beauty and magnificence of nature.
Well considering it was 40C with the humidity today, we (my 2 yr old and myself) spent most of the day today on our patio. I just bought him the little tykes “Makin’ Mud Pies” kitchen set yesterday, so I thought it would be a good idea to put it on the patio with a big flower pot of soil… Yeah, needless to say my patio now looks like my truck does after we go “mudding”. You can’t see the wood at all, and would you believe the tap for the outside hose snapped off today, when I tried to hose off all the mud. lol, I have a bunch of super cute pictures of my little guy making his mud pies tho, so it was all worth it.
nice story! almost a bit too hot to be outside, I guess…
Enjoying my patio with family and friends during the summer is always enjoyable for me. My most favorite time is in the morning when there is no-one around. I’ve got a hot cup of coffee. The sky is blue, clear and just abit crisp yet from the mountain air. The trees are magestic with just alittle flutter from the breeze. The flowers are glorious, purple, magenta, pink, blue, orange, yellow, white…but too many shades of each colour to describe. My little oasis, its all here for me. A feeling of accomplishment and serenity washes over me as my garden applauds my efforts. Now I sit in my chair and smile…just to me.
I love taking my coffee out to the patio in the morning. I sit on my swing and listen to the birds singing. Most enjoyable part of the day.
I enjoy my old chair on my patio
love to enjoy summer
Our best patio experiences have been spent with close friends BBQing and watching fireworks!
My favourite memory of a patio would have to be from a previous house several years ago… it was the first time I got into our hot tub – it was a cold night but I was warm and I could see the stars, awesome. Boy I miss that hot tub!
What an awesome experience it would be to be out in the yard chillin’ in some outdoor wicker furniture socializing with friends and family.
This set would look great on my patio…..it would go very well with the ethanol outdoor fireplace I just got.
I spend a lot of time outdoors in the summer so this patio set would get good use from me.
I like a good time on my patio with family and friends. that my patio is beautiful, comfortable and filled with flowers.Summer is too short.
It has rained for so long in Vancouver, I forget what it is like on my Patio.
I love sitting on the patio in the morning with a cup of coffee and pastry. Sometimes the naughty squirrels try to steal my meal!
We are out on our back yard patio all the time. The last time out was with my son we drew roads with chalk on the patio floor and played toy cars all day.
Patio time is about sunny days, good friends, and making the most out of our short Ottawa summer.
The last time we were out on the patio was for my daughters birthday. We had a great time, and the weather was delightful. We could use a new set because one of our chairs is broken.
In my patio, we have a big TV. That’s where all my family gathers and spends time together 🙂
PATIOS ARE GREAT! twice weekly I go our there and do my YOGA. What a positive healthly experience; fresh air, tree all around, birds singing, good breeze, it’s all good.
The best memory of our patio is the great feeling I had when we finished putting it in. It was a real adventure DIY experience – the patio is built from flagstones and flat rocks that we collected from local creeks and streams. We’ll never forget hauling wet stones to our car and then trying to decide on placement. But it looks great and is absolutely unique!
My most memorable patio moment was when my family went up to Tobermory to visit my god parents. They have a cottage on Dorcus Bay. We went out on my godfather’s boat during the early morning. We caught rainbow trout and brought them back with us. He smoked them all day long as our parents chatted and read book on the patio while we swam. As the sun was setting we all sat on the patio, looking out at the lake while eating freshly smoked trout. We stayed outside until the stars came out to watch a meteor shower. It was the most brilliant thing I have ever seen, especially the reflection of the stars on the warm dark waters of Dorcus Bay.
i have many patio memories, but one of my faves was one night i happened to be in the area as a young couple were alone together…so they thought…and i was privelidged enough to over-hear the most romantic wedding proposal-so touching,i got tears!
My patio is surrounded by my garden so I mainly gaze at my veggie garden
Last time we were on a patio we had my sisters birthday dinner!
I love wicker patio furniture. I love eating outside all summer long.
We have a concrete patio that I was sooooo bored of. I decided one day to paint it with bright Caribbean colors. While I had great visions of a sea with fish and frogs in it; it turns out that I may have great vision, but very poor paint skills, the concrete patio was hideous!
We spent the summer on the bright concrete patio, laughed a lot about it and painted it a nice safe grey color the next year.
On my older sisters graduation we had all of her friends over to our place after the ceremony for drinks and dinner on the patio. There were about 20 people and as everyone was sitting down, one of the girls jumped up screaming and then ran away as fast as she could…soon everyone else was jumping and running because apparently we hadn’t used all of the chairs yet this one summer and a very large wasp nest had decided to attach itself to the bottom of one of the patio chairs and was disturbed when someone sat down on it. after 9 guests were stung more than once, we decided it was best to eat inside.
My most memorable patio moment was planning a bbq party in 2003, and then the blackout happened in Ontario. We had everything but the beer. oh, well we all had fun outside with the torches going even though there was no power.
PATIOS ARE MADE FOR PEOPLE WATCHING
We have a very private patio surrounded by plum trees and rose-bushes, and my favourite patio memory is of my fiance and I pulling our bed out to the patio and “camping out” there. Waking up only steps from the kitchen in the fresh air was amazing.
My funniest patio memory was the first time I tried a single malt scotch on my college roommate’s patio which literally knocked me off my chair as I had drank much too big a sip! 😀
My most fondest memory of enjoying a patio set is when I was about 5 years old.
I used to eat my lunch and dinner outside in our backyard, colouring and just enjoying the great outdoors. It was just so peaceful, beautiful greenery and scenery to see not to mention all of the little critters we get in our garden.
Now that we’ve moved into our new house, we had to throw our old patio set away which had a lot of fond childhood memories. Here’s to hopping I win this contest, win a new patio set and create new memories with my family and friends that will last a lifetime.
Live is too short, enjoy it with good company.
🙂
Last time I was on a patio, I was enjoying a chat with my sister-in-law. Fresh air, smell of grass, nice flowers and a good company. What else could I ask for..
I was working on my motorcycle on my patio and my engine on the motorcycle and somehow, the motorcycle slipped into gear. I was still holding the handlebars, was dragged through a glass patio door and along with the motorcycle dumped onto the floor inside the house. My wife, hearing the crash, ran into the dining room, and found me laying on the floor, cut and bleeding, the motorcycle laying next to me and the patio door shattered. My wife ran to the phone and summoned an ambulance. Because we live on a fairly large hill, my wife went down the several flights of long steps to the street to direct the paramedics to me.
After the ambulance arrived and transported me to the hospital, my wife uprighted the motorcycle and pushed it outside. Seeing that gas had spilled on the floor, my wife obtained some papers towels, blotted up the gasoline, and threw the towels in the toilet. I was treated at the hospital and was released to come home.
After arriving home, I looked at the shattered patio door and the damage done to his motorcycle. I became despondent, went into the bathroom, sat on the toilet and smoked a cigarette. After finishing the cigarette, I flipped it between my legs into the toilet bowl while still seated. My wife, who was in the kitchen, heard a loud explosion and me screaming. She ran into the bathroom and found me laying on the floor. My trousers had been blown away and I was suffering burns on the buttocks, the back of my legs and his groin. My wife again ran to the phone and called for an ambulance.
The same ambulance crew was dispatched and my wife met them at the street. The paramedics loaded me on the stretcher and began carrying me to the street. While they were going down the stairs to the street accompanied by my wife, one of the paramedics asked my wife how I had burned myself. She told them and the paramedics started laughing so hard, one of them tipped the stretcher and dumped the me out. I fell down the remaining steps and broke my arm. Now THAT was a bad day…
Have heard a similar story before….
In any case, always fun to hear it again!!
I love relaxing on the patio with a nice cold beer & great food on the bbq! Best time of year!
Most memorable was the patio of the condo I live in for a year in Hawaii. My parents flew down for a month and it was a true son, parent bonding. Mom has a morbid fear of flying and it too all of her courage. We sat night after night watching the sun go down over Waikiki. This two have given up so much to support a family of 7. They didn’t even have their own bedroom! The slept on the pull out sofa in our living room..yet we always felt like they gave us everything. This was my way of saying thanks. This August, Dad now 88, Mom 86 will celebrate their 66th wedding anniversary. A new Patio set would certainly bring the party to life outdoors. Everything is just a little rusted, and tired (me included!) and the BBQ is questionable. (we may do take out!) Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad. I’ll always be your little boy. xox
I love to sit on my patio and listen to the birds sing. Very peaceful and relaxing.
having a beer on the deck with the neighbors is da bomb.
The last time I was on a patio was last week while I was eating frozen yogurt with my mother (who is visiting from Portugal).
My favourite time is sitting on the patio watching the birds, the flowers, the clear day, and my pup running her feet off around the yard. I am definitely in a happy place on the patio!
My best patio experience was my wedding. We had an outdoor/indoor wedding and outdoors was a large rock patio with a man made pond and koi with a small waterfalls. It was a hit at the wedding and so breathtaking.
I will never forget when I walked into a screen door at a family party, trying to get out to the patio. BOING! I was so embarassed, but now I just laugh about it.
I love to sit out and relax while the kids run in circles around me.
My husband I live in a condo right now with a small balcony. We just bought our first house and it has a beautiful backyard. We’re in desperate need of a new patio set to create wonderful family patio memories.
When I go home to my parents house, my favourite thing to do is sit out on the patio and take in the orchard views 🙂
I go out on my patio with my computer, it is so nice out there on a summer’s day under the trees, you can see the kids playing and the neighbours walking their dogs, it is so peaceful.
We hang out by the pool on the weekends; the whole family spends from breakfast in the morning, enjoying our coffee, to making s’mores by the fire at night. It makes for wonderful family memories!
As much as I love a hot summer’s day on the patio, my all-time favourite patio experience happened in January! I was at a London, ON pub called the Barking Frog, standing next to the heated turrets on a freezing and very, very snowy evening. Suddenly a snowball was lobbed from the street over the Frog’s tall wooden fence, landing just a couple feet away from me. With that, an all-out snowball fight broke out between the dozens of bar patrons on the patio. Definitely one of the most Canadian things I’ve seen! It was all in good fun and even a few bouncers joined in.
I decided I would impress my boss with my culinary skills on the barbi, so I invited he and his fiance over. They arrived to my then abode and we went into my cosy grunge meets urban gardener back yard, and back then I had old school lawn chairs with the aluminum tube with webbing over them. The bosses fiance walks over with her glass of red wine and beautiful white dress, sits down on one of the chairs and breaks right through the webbing, legs around her ears, now wearing a red dress to match her and my face. Chairs apparently had one too many a campfire setting! Needless to say it was the shortest dinner party I ever hosted.
This summer is a special one-we just bought our first home, and finally get to enjoy a patio of our very own with our baby girl and her sibling (to be born in a few weeks). What a treat!
since we do not own any patio furniture yet ( but have patio) this would definitely make my wifes summer
My most memorable patio experiance was a time when the fall wind was just right, some great ribs and good company!
i fell asleep on my patio & woke up with about a million mosquito bites
Nice patio furniture compliments any BBQ.
I love to sit outside and watch my kids play
When I was out in Italy, sitting on the tiniest of patios with my husband and checking out the most amazing skyline on a sunny day.
My husbands been promising to build a gazebo for over a decade. He finally figured out a simple design and we start on the long weekend. It would be glorious to have new furniture to go in it. My daughter will be off to University soon and I would love to charish memories of all of us relaxing in the backyard.I can just picture it now!
I love patio season! Everyone heads to he local pub as soon as the patio opens for the season. Love seeing everyone that I ahven’t seen in months and enjoying a nice cold beer in the sun 🙂
My glass patio table broke a couple weeks ago after I put my 1980 Mainframe Computer on it to play text based games in the sunshine.
Sitting on the patio last week I caught a glimpse of a mouse running up the side of the patio door and under the sliding door covering.
I love to sit out on my patio when we get a nice sunny day. Love it more when we can use the BBq to cook supper.
Every Sunday – we eat out on our patio in the summer. These are memories in the making for my kids and I.
The last time I was enjoying the patio I was drinking a nice cup of coffee and enjoying the sun. However, it didn’t last long as the little sunshine that we have had this June turned into a downpour in a matter of minutes.
All week the weatherman forecast rain for the weekend, so what a surprise it was to see sun on Saturday for the baby shower I was going to. When I arrived the outside patio was beautifully decorated, chairs were set up, food tables ready and even a pig whirling on a humungeous grill. All was beautiful for the mother-to-be’s arrival. Such a wonderful time was had by all. Presents opened and we were just starting to relax when the sky darkened to almost night and the wind kicked up sending things flying this is when everyone went rushing into the house with chairs, gifts, etc and in perfect timing the downpour of rain, thunder and lightening started. It was awesome. We all laughed at our luck to get inside just in time. And then it happened – the power went out. Yup. We all sat in in almost darkness laughing. As it turned out the power was out for around 2 hours but we continued to party. Then just as fast as the storm came, it left. Yes, some brave souls ventured back to the patio to continue with the partying.
My most memorable patio moment was when we were building our patio (deck). My 2 boys were in the house. At some point, my 2 year old son closed and locked the patio door and I couldn’t get him to open it. I had to get my husband to lower me down off the patio which was up around 8ft so I could run around to the front door. In the process of being lowered down, my shirt hooked on a nail and lifted right off. I was left dangling and flashing the neighbour. I was mortified at the time, but laugh about it now.
last time i was on a patio we were sitting on fold out chairs having oven pizza and having beers, no tables just plates on our laps beer on the floor. word~
BEER,Kick ass BBQ and friends on the patio.
My most memorable experiences were playing on the patio when I was 3 or 4 years old with all of the neighbourhood kids. It seemed so huge back then, but now when I visit I realize how tiny it really was. Still, it brings back vivid memories of running around without a care in the world 25 years ago!
We always enjoy our patio, usually we get together with the neighbors, with a few cold beers and enjoy the sun
I love being outside on my patio, however, I still dont have a BBQ or patio furniture.. So for now I sit on the floor! Better than being indoors!
Love patio time because it is a chance for me to have nice mother/daughter time with my 7 year old girl without distractions such as a tv. We just sit and chat about all the things going on in her life and it is a great time to get connected.
Sitting on the patio that my husband built is a happy and a wistful experience because he worked so hard many years ago and I am very proud of him, but the stones have shifted and worn so I know it is time to repair all his hard work.
My most memorable was my first baby was born and the whole family come over for a BBQ celebration and we all out at the patio and chatting and enjoying our time. That was the last time that the whole family gathered together and grandpa enjoying the BBQ as since that time, he was in nursing home and he passed away.
my memorable patio experiences are the ones in which we share good food, good wine, and good company.
My mom died in 2009 and her will got tied up in legal knots, but this year it was settled. She loved sitting out in the backyard so we used our inheritance to put a new deck on the house. We named it after her and bought a wooden plaque with her name on it to honour her. Now every night, when we sit out there I think of her. We had a family barbecue to christen the deck on Easter and we all raised a glass and toasted the best mom ever.
I remember sitting outside watching my kids pick snow peas when they were younger. They were so excited.
My cousin and I were in Mexico and went out on the patio of our hotel to have a drink before bed. We asked the waiter what was on special, well I guess he thought we meant what was special because he brought us a couple of fantastic fruit and rum drinks however the price was $14 each lol. We paid more for our drinks than we had for dinner that evening! hahahaha they were delicious though! 🙂
At my mom’s 50th birthday party, all the little boys in the family, under age 5, began blowing bubbles. The pictures of the gathering had bubbles in the background and lots and lots of smiles.
After three years of landscaping chaos, and two shady landscape contractors we can finally enjoy sitting out on our patio. There is still a little work to do but we are happy enjoying being outside.
After building our patio for four months, we celebrated by having home made pizza outside among the flowers, apple tree and shrubs.
we are in our first new house and would LOVE to have a patio – hoping to save enough to build one later this summer….and then I’ll curl up with a good book out there.
I was babysitting my three little grandchildren and we thought we would go out on the patio picnic table and have a picnic. I had no idea a nest of hornets had built a nest underneath and when I sat down, they swarmed. I had the wherewithall to pick up each of the children and run as fast as I could but was bitten 8 times on my arms and legs. I felt abit woozy afterwards but I survived. The kids love telling that story.
it is so peaceful to sit on the patio and watch the squirrels dart around the yard
My favourite memory on a patio was the year we had a barbecue to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday. We had approximately 40 family and friends over. My brother-in-law and a friend took over the “grill” duties that day to give the birthday boy a break. It was an afternoon filled with lots of laughs and warm memories.
Living on the Westcoast when the sun comes out my family with 4 gorgeous daughters and my husband and I sprawl ourselves on the patio and we soak up the sun. We will rush home from work to do this. We have wine , talk, sleep, tan the simple life. We love our patio
There hasn’t been much of a patio moment this spring and summer yet anyway. My most memorable would have been 4 years ago. It was A hot July and my kids were all home for a visit. A rare occasion. We had Christmas in July complete with outdoor Christmas lights and visited into the wee hours. A memorable and wonderful time I relive every time I sit out on the patio.
Our story is more embarrassing then anything.
We were buying our first ever house, 3o years ago….the owners invited us over for a drink to negoiate…my husband went to sit in a lawn chair and went right thru, lol…
My most memorable patio experiences are always grabbing beers with the boys.
I’ll never forget sitting on our patio, the night the power went out in most of Ontario that one summer about ten years ago. I was pregnant with our second child; our two-year-old was sleeping on a mattress on the main floor to stay cool. Everything was so quiet, yet you could hear the neighbours, sitting on their porches and patios carrying on quiet conversations looking at the stars. It was such a clear night, with no streetlights – we even saw a satellite fly by. It reminded me of what it must have been like before electronics took over…a whisper from yesteryear. What an awesome memory…
Our home is on a pretty heavily treed lot, so we don’t get a lot of sun. The one time and place we have sum is in the morning on our north facing deck. A cup of coffee and the newspaper first thing in the morning with the sun shining is an amazing way to start the day.
I go out on the patio with a fluffy, stupid romance novel and a freshly mized pina colada. I settle down to relax and a pigeon flies overhead and lands a turd directly in my cup. Day ruined.
I love watching the funny things that my daughter does while my husband and I relax on our back patio.
Ever since I was a child my father and I have shared the fun and creativity of caring for a tiny little pond beside our patio. Only 4 feet around and 2 feet deep, we have loved the beauty of the fish, fountain and flowers in our tiny backyard oasis.
I have a patio that is in desperate need of repair but given that our family spends every summer and fall evening living on that patio, it is time to fix it. Worth every minute of my sweat equity.
My family and I went to a wedding on a farm – it was so much fun (we danced on the huge patio ’til blisters starting forming on our feet!) I’m still in awe how lovely that patio is…
We were sitting on the patio of a local lodge, and decided to open the sun umbrella. As soon as we opened it up dozens of tiny baby bats flew out. THey were really sweet, and a bit sleepy, so some of them just sat there. The waitresses were in hysterics running around, but we quite enjoyed it :-0
My favorite memory is sitting way up in our Willow tree in the backyard of my childhood home looking down on the adults talking around the table with each other, they had chairs pulled up everywhere! Some even sitting in coolers! Great 70’s summer nights!
I had worked late and came out to bring the cat in from the deck, and sat down on my hamock and feel asleep till the morning it was stickly not planned but fun
Unbelievable naps I have on my deck after reading the paper.
If you ever to my house and see my patio furniture you would not hesitate to let me win, everything I own is so outdated and a hand-me down.

The Wisdom of Menopause at My Patio
The dawn of my menopause brings me many retrospections and soliloquy. My patio saves me from many troubles caused by erratic emotions which accompany menopause. My patio becomes my hiatus and “rescue space” to cool down and understand my self; and, likewise save my marital life. Being in my patio connects me to my inner self…a time to be alone…a moment of reflection…an instance of positive solitude. My patio becomes a venue of increased self-knowledge, confidence and times of pure joy by coming into terms with this wisdom of woman’s life called menopause.
We did not have a patio deck and decided to build one this summer. It is absolutely beautiful. Our memorable memories are working hard to build our deck and sitting on our folding chairs and visualizing some patio furniture on it. We only have a bbq and some folding chairs right now. Funny how we still have fun on our patio even without beautiful furnitue but our visualizing of beautiful furniture keeps us going.
PATIO = MOM + DRINKS + GOOD BOOK – KIDS!!!
The best time I ever had on my patio was my backyard bbq wedding dinner.
We were married outside and had a great night on the patio under the stars with our closest friends and family!
We BBQ on our patio
I really like to sit outside in the nice summer months. Thsi furniture looks comfy.
My sister got married on a friend’s patio. It was so beautiful. They had a flower covered arch put up where the happy couple stood and friends and family were seated under a pergola. With a view of the lake in the background, it was something to remember.
My most fun daily deck show is sitting down after the dishes are done on summer evening and watching my cat and the neighbor’s cat run back and forth across the yard during “Cat Crazy Time”. It makes me laugh.
My best moments on the patio was at the beggining of my relationship with my boyfriend. I think I don’t need to say more… mmmm… maybe I should tell you that we also had a pool. grrrrrrr…
We’d love to enjoy our yard more with the kids. They love being outside.
Some adult furniture would be an excellent addition to the kids’ toys!
My most memorable experience was a bbq on mt patio with my family after being away from Canada for a year a half
Can you get better than a nice patio setup a book and a glass of wine. I love summer.
The best patio in the world is my parents place (the house I grew up in) in Muskoka. The patio overlooks the river and I loooooove sitting out there when it rains. I know, I know it sounds silly, why when it rains? Because it’s beautiful! The raindrops on the water and cool breeze. I love it. And I got to experience it on June 23rd last. Right after my birthday party. After a day of sun and fun and bbqing and kayaking I got to wake up to the cool rainy morning the next day and was in heaven. It’s a great patio that needs great patio furniture.
Thank you
Angela
Great company, wine and dancing one the patio to music!
Pick me, pick me. Your next winner!!! Show me the money! I enjoy reading book on a breezy day on a patio. It would be a dream come true and means a lot more to me than anyone else to win the prize. Starving artist here desperately needs the prize. A life changing experience. Top of my bucket list.
I was sitting on my patio enjoying a cool summer drink, when a mouse came walking by. He was walking upright on his 2 hind legs. I was alone at the time, and no witnesses. My friends think I had one too many!
I’ve always wanted to own a home with lot of gardens and lush green grass. it reminds me so much of my grandma’s home with huge property that she took such great care of. All our family would have dinners there; all of us kids would play hide and seek, make jam out of her berries, pour salt on slugs…now I finally own a home where those memories come back to life; my Grandma taught us all so much on proper gardening and how-tos, and thanks to her, my yard and gardens are beautiful!
we have been married 16 years but still do not have patio furniture. Something else always comes up and takes away the money. This would be such a wonderful surprise for my wife
My fiance and I recently cooked a meal for my long time friend who was home for a short amount of time from out of country. My fiance made fall off the bone BBQ pork back ribs in a delicious rib sauce, fresh crisp green beans and butternut squash. It was absolutly perfect! We ate and had a few drinks in the sun on a very HOT summer day but shared a great day and visit. Wouldn’t have changed a thing, except having nice wicker furnature to relax on after our meal.
Relaxing on the patio in the sun with a drink on the side…love it.
My favorite patio memory is from 1995, my new husband and I had just returned from our first (and only!) trip abroad, we went to Barbados and ended up getting married down there. At that time, the wedding was included with the all-inclusive fees, and the only thing we needed to do was get a license, get dressed appropriately, and supply our own photographer. My parents weren’t too thrilled that their only daughter eloped, however, they threw us the biggest, nicest party on their big patio that faces the Beach, and it was all a surprise. My mom had blown up some of our wedding photos and had beautifully decorated the patio with them and a cake and decorations. We were blown away! Now that patio at the family beach house desperately needs some repairs and TLC, the years of living by the salty sea have caught up to it. I would love to be able to put a covered area on one side for my mom to be able to sit without catching too much of a breeze and still be able to enjoy her nice view. Cheers.
For me my patio is my retreat. I love to escape to the patio with a good book or puzzle, a cold drink and lose myself in the serenity of my surroundings.
My parents have an incredible back yard and patio. One of my fondest memories is having my sister’s wedding rehearsal dinner in my parents backyard in early July. Their garden was in full bloom, our family was all together, and we were celebrating her wedding the next day. We have many pictures from this day and it holds a special place in my heart.
A few years ago we added a gazebo over our patio. I can’t believe the difference! It’s like having an extra room and during summer evenings, my husband lights a ton of candles when we have company and we sit out until very late, visiting and laughing. It’s the most special place to entertain!
Hi there,
We moved into our new terrace style home a little over a year ago. We have 2 small upper patios. We use the main one frequently and have a garden, little bistro table and chairs and we enjoy having wine and snacks with our friends. We are in desperate need of a refreshed and something more refined. Please help us!
All the best!
Heather
A couple of years ago a girlfriend of mine went through a rough path in life’s journey….ups and downs with relationships and career. We spend many a nights on her old brick patio solving all of the problems the life threw. The patio became a comfort zone, made more inviting by the occasional glass of wine, cheezy patio lantern lights and well worn in patio chairs. It became a place to go to toss around the next step on path to a happy life.
I like to give my baby girl her bottle of milk outside sitting on the patio, it’s so nice and peaceful.
This year we finally put a gazebo in our backyard. it makes such difference and look beautiful.
I am having a covered patio installed this fall and I would LOVE this furniture to sit on. It would be a beautiful place to view my son’s memorial garden from. We have a water feature in the garden and this furniture would allow me to sit in comfort and style and enjoy the sounds and smells coming from this very special garden while I reminisce about my son. Love you Branden and Miss you Forever.
Right now my patio consists of some grass, some uneven interlocking stone with weeds growing between them, some fake green turf covering bald spots on the lawn and a hideous concrete round patio table which I’m hoping will get hit by lightening and smash it into dust! My patio needs major help to make it beautiful and then I can start having wonderful memories to share!
not a good memory, more like a disaster. we hired a company to pour concrete to expand our patio area. They said it would only take 3 days. Thinking it would be done, we planned a part for 2 weeks later. Well it didn’t end up being finished until 2 weeks after the party itself. But everyone still had a good time.
The last time I was on a patio was on Canada day with some close friends after we were at Pride in Toronto. We had some beers, listened to some Tragically Hip and other Canadian bands playing over the stereo while watching the neighborhood fireworks. Nothing better than close friends, laughter & conversation, a cold beer and some patriotism!
I remember some of the best times of my life were spent outside whether it were rain or shine! It is the best time to get the whole family together and enjoy the beautiful outdoors! As of right now, my boyfriend and I would love to have the family over to enjoy the beautiful weather but we have a hard time finding patio furniture that is perfect for us! I am in love with this patio furniture and our family gatherings would be just that much better!
I love sitting with my girlfriend eating dinner, watching the sun set on a patio….Peaceful, relaxing & beautiful! We would love this set, as we often go to restaurants & or bars to enjoy their patio…
growing up in Ireland, we never had a patio…too cold & rainy. Since moving to canada, i fell in love with all things outdoors, especially patios. I met my Husband on a patio! Patios are great for friendships, romance & laughter
I love to sit outdoors and watch my kids run through the sprinklers like a bunch of crazy monkeys! lol … but I really wish I had somewhere to sit other than the grass!!
It was Saturday, autumn. A day and afternoon, I will never forget. It was in the days before children, hubby was off doing whatever he does. Our home was remarkably clean that day, so I puttered a little in the kitchen, and proceeded to bake pumpkin cookies. We lived in a townhome at the time, with a teeny deck off the kitchen, overlooking our miniscule yard. I took out a black folding camping chair, arranged to have a footrest, booted up my laptop, turned on my choice of light music, poured myself a drink and spent the rest of the afternoon on that wee deck, lost in self and home improvement ideas and inspiration via the internet…enjoying the changing leaves as they rustled in the fresh, but warm breeze. I can’t remember being so relaxed or carefree…
P.S. – I like on Velago Patio Furniture Facebook! 🙂
Seating on the deck, when the weather is just right melts the toughest, dysfunctional, lonely moments in my relationship be it with my spouse or my son. Here seated comfortably, in the evening air and quiet of the nearly bedded birds, the gentle warm breeze never fails to envelope us in peace.
We lived in our last home for 20 years and the house never had a deck. I vowed I would never move until the deck was built, but every year the “deck funds” would go towards the endless repairs on our 100 year old home, rather than on a deck. Instead, the flagstone patio halfway down our yard became the spot where it all happened… family feasts, barbecues and bonfires, chillaxing with Sangria and friends, and as as a stage for the fiddle players at our backyard wedding. One memorable time on the patio was on a very cold October night when we just had the urge for one last bonfire before the winter snows arrived. So with hot chocolate in hand in place of Sangria, we enjoyed one last gathering on the patio, outfitted in winter coats and wool toques… in true Canadian style.
So a couple years back we were all on the patio outside and we were playing a card game. After a couple drinks, we all were pretty wasted and things started getting really weird. I forget what type of card game we were playing, I think it was goldfish, but we turned it into a stripping game. Eventually, all five of us were nearly naked out in my open backyard. We dared each other to do a lot of stupid stuff, most of which I can’t remember. Any ways, I woke up in only my boxer shorts next to a tree in my neighbours backyard.
The most memorable experience I have on my patio happened two weeks ago. We’ve been living in our new house for only a few months and have just set up the patio table and chairs, along with my new tomato plant.
We arrived home from work, planning on making dinner and sitting outside, when the worst storm I’ve ever experienced rolled in. Hail the size of ping pong balls began to fall, bouncing off the roof of the garage, down onto the table, hitting the door and deck, making an incredible racket. We stood inside watching in disbelief as the hail piled up. When the storm was over, the deck looked like it was covered in snow.
While the deck and table survived (minus the railing paint), the same couldn’t be said for my poor tomato plant. Or our plans to eat outside.
Ok…Picture this, it’s a gorgeous hot sunny day, my friends on the patio are all sipping on a cool drink, great conversation is flowing! We are celebrating my birthday! So there I am at the helm of my new shiny barbecue set, grilling that aromatic delicious meat! Ok..so have to tell you here, that my patio set had been quite used for many years, it was quite weather beaten and worn, but I figured I could get another season out of it! I went to take a break and sat down on one of the chairs. So imagine my surprise as it went karplunk and flattened right to the deck floor and I went sprawling on my butt! I was so embarassed and so were my guests, who rushed over to help me up! To make light of the situation, I joked that hey..good thing I had a lot of padding and it did not hurt at all and laughed! My friends followed suit and the moment passed. We continued to have a great and fun barbecue nonetheless! It was good to laugh at myself and I vowed I would not only lose weight but also get a new patio set! BUT to date, I still have not due to lack of funds mostly, and now I gingerly sit on the other remaining chairs, hoping too they do not ‘spring another falling’ surprise on me!
sitting out on the patio in the lazy days of summer, reading a good book; could life be anymore relaxing.
I enjoy sitting on the patio with a nice refreshing drink, a good book to read, and I enjoy watching my little girl playing outside.
The best patio experience is my mothers rooftop patio in summer. There is a waterfall, barbeque, plants, solar lighting and a great view of the city skyline. A great place to hang out and do whatever you want.
I liked going outside with my morning coffee to listen and watch the birds chirp..
A cup of coffee,
something to read,
a comfortable chair on the patio;
the perfect summer morning.
My most memorable patio experience was the time my ex-girlfriend and I went to her fathers cottage for the weekend, with a friend who was knowledgeable in wine and cooking. The weather cooperated enough that we were able to enjoy listening to music on the patio and watching the lake while enjoying the fruit of her labour.
Having lived in an apartment in a city for over a decade, moving to a house in a small town presented a new set of challenges. It was fun digging around in the dirt, designing the look and choosing plants. Later, a patio rug, outdoor furniture, and some cats… what a life! In the second summer, my sister gave me an outdoor fireplace, a box of kindling, a box of wood, some newspaper and a fireplace lighter, a 6-pack and a bag of chips for my birthday ~ and ever since you cannot blast my little family out of the yard in the summer. However, as times rolls on, the whole thing is looking a bit shabby [especially where the patio rug had a run-in with the lawnmower… 🙁 ick!] and could use an overhaul… so, thank you for the opportunity to make a little rejuvenation dream a reality!
I love using my patio for family gatherings – especially with so many small children in our family now, it’s nice that they can be free outside. It’s a great place for entertaining especially when the weather is right.
The best times I have ever had on a patio is at my parents cottage in Parry Sound, ON. During the summer months myself, my parents, 4 other siblings, 3 spouses and 7 nieces and nephews congregate on the patio to eat all our meals on the giant picnic table, relax and chat. It is a place of unity for our family where even during our busy lives we are able to relax together and enjoy the views from the patio. The last time I was on a patio was at my parents cottage while I enjoyed the view of Georgian Bay. This patio allows everyone to escape from the stresses of life and enjoy each other’s company.
There is no better way to enjoy the company of family and friends then outside on the patio. Watching the kids in the pool, music playing in the background, wine in hand and the barbq grilling something savory! Now some new furniture would be perfection 🙂
We have a deck right outside our kitchen window, and when the kids were young it was a favorite place for their friends to wait until the kids could go out to play.
My friend and I went shopping for new patio furniture when he moved to Las Vegas during the summer two years ago. He didn’t have quite the budget for good patio furniture, so we bought some of the standard white plastic chairs and tables. We set them up on the deck by his pool and when my friend sat in the chair closest to the pool it collapsed and he fell into the pool. The reason it did not hold him is that the plastic chair had gotten soft in the heat of the sun and the legs of the chair gave way. He didn’t think it was very funny at the time but laughed about it later when we took the furniture back to the store we bought it from.
Meditating in my backyard brings such joy. Doing it on stylish patio furniture would be wonderful! 🙂
our patio was vastly under-used and it’s only been within the past 3 years or so that I gained an appreciation for the outdoors. Now that I have a lovely garden to enjoy, I don’t have any patio furniture to sit on…you get tired just standing and admiring the flowers after a while…imagine a lovely lounge chair, a cup of morning tea, music playing and friends over – PERFECT
Last time i was on a patio was yesterday with my husband and 2 small children and we were eating freezies and telling silly stories. These moments with my children will be treasured forever!
Our patio gets lots of sun so it is warm quite early in the spring. One year our son wanted to have a food fight for his birthday in March. We told him he could and prepared a bunch of food; mashed potatoes boiled eggs, spagetti, jello, etc. It was so warm the kids ran around in shorts flinging food at each other for most of an hour. After hosing them down we continued with the party. It was a smash success.
Our old place had a covered wooden balcony. Besides barbecuing, my favourite use for it was sitting out to watch the storms roll in, despite my girlfriend thinking I was crazy for doing so. Thunderstorms are wild to watch up close and there’s no better way to experience them than a nice covered balcony. I’ll never forget that one freak storm of wild lightning behind pea-sized hail piling up on the edge of the deck in late July, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
It’s the furniture that made the patio standout, really relaxing, the perfect way to live the summer, now that’s life!
Some of the greatest memories were made on the patio of my childhood house. Every season had special events linked to my patio. The summer was the time for parties, whether it was birthday or family get togethers, it gave the family an excuse to be outside and decorate the patio to our hearts content . The Fall was too cold for shorts and t-shirts but the perfect place to carve the pumpkins for halloween! Winter would be the time all the family would search the patio roof for the largest icicles and them use them for stir sticks in our icy cold drinks beside the warm fire. Spring, both rain and shine was a time for something to do. When the sun finally peaked through the rain clouds, my mom would try to wind dry the laundry on the patio which always smelled wonderful; but when it rained the kids would either sit on the patio watching the rain hitting the newly budded flowers or drying off from jumping in the muddy puddles. 364 days a year, there was always something the patio could offer us!
Curled up on a brilliant orange and green patio swing, the kind that squeaks with the smallest of movement. Canopied by the verandah roof…holding a freshly brewed cup of coffee in an oversized mug. Awestruck, watching the absolute beauty of an electrical storm.
My favourite memory is sitting on the patio with my family during a Chinook and enjoying the warm are coming from over the Rockies in FEBRUARY!!!
I love sitting on the patio on a Saturday having a few cold beer with friends.
My most memorable patio moment happened decades ago at the cottage we no longer own. It was early morning and I opened the front doors to see mist suspended over the lake. All was still. I sat down and listened to the call of a loon. Total bliss.
I like to sit outside and listen to the birds chirp early in the morning
It’s so peaceful to sit outside and eat with my family on the patio. It’s too bad we can’t do it all year long.
My favorite time on a patio is Sunday afternoon with some some nice snacks, a good beverage and a great book.
watching the cats play hide & pounce with each other in the heavily shaded patio garden
there’s nothing like bbq’ing and having friends over with good wine! a regular occurence in our home in the summer!
One of my most memorable patio moments took place last summer. I was babysitting my 3 little cousins and I had set up one of those little kiddie pools on our patio and filled in with water and bubbles. I spent all morning and afternoon playing games with the kids as they splashed around and covered everything with bubbles. They even ate their hotdogs that I cooked for them and drank their kool-aid in the little pool. I was so exhausted from running around with the kids that after they were picked up at 3pm, I fell asleep on the patio in one of our long, reclining deck chairs. An hour later I woke up and I was just roasting in the sun… and unfortunately had fallen asleep with my arm across stomach, leaving a perfectly outlined hand burn right across myself.
The next day was my schools big beach trip and my friends never let me forget how ridiculous I looked with that huge hand burn across my stomach… however, the day that I spent with the kids, splashing around on our patio, was totally worth the ridicule.
And that’s my story! Thanks for reading 🙂
Dana
Me and my whole family outside with the barbecue going and Simply talking about our days enjoying ourselves, me trying to hide from the sun (I burn really easily). I <3 my Family.
My Dad is always so busy and we don’t have a lot of time together, but he enjoys coming over to my place in the summer and hanging out on the patio. We get the grill going and open a few bottles of beer and he kicks off his shoes and grabs a seat and we talk, laugh and even break out the guitar once in awhile.
I have the most beautiful deck. There are trees for a far as you can see. It is so green, I spend every morning on this deck enjoying nature!~
what could be better than sitting outside watching the world go by.
Got a lovely ancient cedar deck with pot holes just the perfect size for chair legs to fit through. Oops, sometimes we forget to warn friends. That’s always a memorable experience 🙂
My most memorable patio experience was when I was about 10 years old. My family, aunts uncles and cousins were all gathered together for some BBQ. My cousin Kim was showing everyone how she could step dance. I thought that this was really interesting and wanted to try it myself. However, I spun until I was dizzy and fell down the patio stairs…. plus my sister caught it on tape. I have yet to live that down.
I hosted an ice wine tasting party at my house and invited 3 other couples. It was so much fun, all of our food was cooked with different ice wines, and we drank and ate well into the night. It was by far my favourite patio party
I enjoy sitting on the patio with my loving boyfriend with my two adorable dogs, and relaxing in the evenings.
While we were building out patio we layed out the frame work and my dog decided to go outside onto the patio and got stuck in the frame work. She wasnt hurt or anything but she couldnt figure how to get out. It gave me a laugh. We really need to decorate our patio and a gift card would really help us!
Thanks
We love eating dinner outside. It is our grandkids favorite place to eat.
And the winner is …. Aaron!
Congrats!
I love to take our cats out on the patio and let them sun themselves while I work on my computer and usually enjoy a good cup of coffee
Every day, from my patio, I watch a baby raccoon who comes here to visit ever day. He is still bit clumsy at climbing, and sometimes comes close to faling out of the tree.
I enjoy relaxing on my patio with my laptop and watching the kids play
My family will find any excuse to be out on the patio( Birthdays, graduations, holidays) We enjoy sitting outside in the sun around our table just having a few drinks, a nice family meal, having the craziest conversations, and watching my nieces and nephews run around in the back yard jumping on the trampoline or climbing on the monkey bars. Those are the moments in life that you sit back and just take it all in. The times that my family is together around that patio table is the most comforting thing. Life is too busy and we let too many moments pass us by, but when were out back everything just slows down, and for a day we just take it all in and make memories.
As I have very little outdoor furniture, this would be fun to win and useful too!
I have a family of soon to be 4! Our deck is open to our black lab which tore apart our camping chairs sadly. New patio furniture would help convince my husband to do some work to block it off for a nice, comfy place to be with our babies outside as our daughter loves being outside!
I so need patio furniture..please !!!!
We just bought our first house and it has a beautiful grapevine that acts as the perfect sun canopy, but we don’t have any furniture underneath. It is my dream to have a beautiful patio set like this one under that canopy and make our new backyard the perfect oasis. Patio lights and all!
